Cost of Female HRT:
First Visit: On your first visit you will have a history and physical performed, you will be scheduled for a 2 week follow-up, and sent for your HRT labs. Dr. Ashworth will evaluate your specific results and discuss these levels and their significance at your two week follow-up visit. As indicated Dr. Ashworth will prescribe your specific preparation for your transdermal cream. You will be prescribed a 12-week supply for initial response evaluation.
First Visit Cost: $350.00 The is paid on this website at the store. (The cost of your transdermal cream is paid directly to “The Potters House Apothecary” which is approximately $75.00/month, this is the compounding pharmacy Dr. Ashworth found with the highest standards for compounding medications and hormones)
What occurs over this 12 week period?
After your initial labs are evaluated, your HRT transdermal cream will be prescribed and after payment to the pharmacy, will be mailed to your home or can be picked up at the compounding pharmacy. After 9 weeks of usage you will have a required follow-up visit with Dr. Ashworth via a ZOOM call. This will be to discuss changes in your symptoms. After this 9 week ZOOM call Dr. Ashworth will order your follow-up HRT labs, evaluate them, and along with the symptoms you discussed, prescribe your next 6 months of transdermal creams with adjustments in dosage if indicated. (The compounding pharmacy offers discounts when multiple months are purchased. Although this is not necessary as purchasing month to month is just as acceptable and you will have refills)
9 week follow-up cost: $175.00 This is paid prior to you scheduling the appointment, and is paid on this website on the store page. Dr. Ashworth will then prescribe your HRT transdermal cream based on your symptoms and your lab evaluation, with any necessary adjustments and refills to last 6 months.
After the first 12 weeks, you will have follow-up ZOOM calls 3 weeks prior to the end of each 6 month’s of HRT treatment (twice per year). During this ZOOM call you discuss changes in your symptoms and ask any questions you have, as well as being sent for your blood draw so Dr. Ashworth can evaluate your labs and prescribe your hormones. The cost for these follow-ups are the same as the 9 week follow-up visit, $175.00. We will schedule each of your 6 month follow-ups 3 weeks prior to this time so you do not run out of HRT.
* The Cost for HRT is built into the pricing for weight loss patients if they are using HRT. Above pricing is for patients only being treated for HRT.
Hormone replacement for women:
Treating hormone deficiencies in women can be complicated. It’s the main reason so few medical weight loss clinics offer this type of treatment. It is important to keep in mind that difficulty losing and keeping weight off isn’t always from hormone deficiencies. However, by measuring the levels of vital hormones we avoid missing important pieces of the puzzle. Dr. Ashworth specializes in treating hormone deficiency whether you need to lose weight or not. If you are post-menopausal and having a difficult time losing weight then looking at your hormone levels is the place to start.
Progesterone helps burn fat for energy and balances insulin and cortisol. No wonder it was so much easier to lose weight when you were younger! There are many synthetic “progestins” with differing levels of side effects. These side effects include depression, acne, blood clots, water retention, migraines and weight gain! The amounts of estrogens and progesterone are fixed in differing amounts according to brand, but are not dosed according to your blood levels or symptoms! It is still a one size fits all pharmaceutical money maker. Progesterone is a natural antidepressant and calming hormone. Just think of the name of the hormone pro-gesterone: literally pro-gestation, keep the baby, stay calm and keep the uterus calm.
Estradiol or E2 is a strong estrogen and is the form of estrogen that is used in bio-identical HRT. High, unopposed, or out of balance levels may increase the risk of breast, uterine, and prostate cancer (in men). This is why it is vital that women have progesterone, as well as estrogen when getting supplemented with bio-identical hormones. Having an adequate level of estradiol is essential for maintaining health and wellness. It is vital for the health of the heart, brain, bones, joints, immune system, and much more.
Testosterone is essential for both women and men. A normal level is needed for a healthy sex life, as a mood stabilizer, it increases memory, and your ability to concentrate. Having adequate levels is essential for losing weight and maintaining that weight loss.
Part of the “Ashworth Weigh” is utilizing bio-identical hormones, compounded by a specialized pharmacy using plant based methods, along with a liposomal delivery system. Liposomes are tiny transport bubbles that enable the bio-identical hormone to be carried through your skin and into your bloodstream. This assures that this natural form of the hormone reaches your cells. Once there, they are able to perform the same job as the hormone previously secreted by your body.
Many people will not require hormone supplementation to lose weight, but you will not know unless you are tested. Your symptoms and your age play into this and need to be taken into account. Make sure to read your guide book: Weight Gain: When it’s not your fault, for more detailed information.
